Ideas Competition for the Rehabilitation of Monfero Monastery, transforming it into a Spa Hotel

We are aware that we are not only facing the rehabilitation of a building. We like to think of our proposal as the revitalization of a silenced but latent splendor of the wonderful Monfero monastery. This building has a clear spatial sequence that would be revived as the backbone of the proposal. We see the possibility to experience new sensory input, the project is conceived as a place of reflection and reunion with oneself, one’s own body, mind and spirit. The building seems to have a labyrinthine nature, a spatial depth with a consequence in time: it folds back over itself, it turns, zig-zags. The room modules are inspired by the monastic character of the whole architectural group, so they are organized as cells, making it possible to customize or aggregate them, adapting to the way of life of each person.
